Back From Extinction

California Condors have been on my bucket list for as long as I can remember. At one point they were on the brink of complete extinction; scientists made a last-ditch effort at saving them by capturing the remaining wild individuals and starting a breeding program. At this point, they were officially extinct in the wild. From the 22 captured individuals in 1987, there are now several hundred California Condors living in the wild.
