18th Annual Smithsonian Magazine Photo Contest Altered Images
Back to you

This image shows a banyan tree that sits on a rock, close to the North-East Indian city of Guwahati. The speciality of this location is that the views and the scenery change drastically during the monsoon and the lean season. While during monsoon, the rising water of the mighty river, the Brahmaputra, engulfs the rock on which the tree sits, during the lean season the rock underneath is completely exposed.
