15th Annual Smithsonian Magazine Photo Contest Natural World

Early morning, Bald Eagles are frequently seen along the rivers in Yellowstone. They are carnivores and raptors, seeking a diet of fish, waterfowl, rodents and small mammals. They also scavenge from the carcasses of large animals such as elk and bison.
