Banded Watersnake

While birdwatching I was startled by this lone Banded Watersnake crossing the gravel trail I was on. I was startled because as a birdwatcher, I'm naturally looking up rather than down, and didn't notice the snake until I was right on top of it. Because the snake didn't seem to bothered by me, I decided to take some shots of it before it fully crossed the trail. I particularly liked photographing the snake head on to showcase the expression in its eyes.
