I took this photograph as I was following the photo footsteps of Robert Frank across America. My journey took me two years, visiting all of the stops Frank visited as he attempted to capture everyday America. This is one scene that I particularly love -- the makeshift beach barbershop -- that characterizes the can-do working spirit of America. Elvin with the sand under his feet, cutting Adrian's hair. Throughout my journey, I asked people about the American dream. "Do I believe in the American dream?" Elvin replied. "I don't necessarily know what it is."
