Bared Teeth of the Earth

This photo shows one of the many intriguing rock formations at the Vasquez Rocks Natural Area Park. Situated in the main area of the park, this particular formation is probably its most well known. Standing at the base of these towering sheets of rock, I looked up and got the impression of vampiric fangs, erupting out of the gums of the earth. With the blackened sky in the background announcing a probable thunderstorm, the overall feel of the photograph is one of dark and merciless tyranny.
