Batad natives hut. The original Ifugao hut.
This is a very old, original Ifugao hut. The main structures are more than a hundred years old. Some of the woods used are Molave Tree. A very hard wood, (seldom grow now in this part of the region) even a Termites with carbide steel teeth wont dare to eat this kind of wood. The Ilocano natives of the northern part of Luzon call it "SAGAT." The roofing is replaced every ten years or more. These are grasses growing by the hill side of the mountain which they call in "Ilocano Dialect: PAN-AO."
