Battle-scarred Burrunan dolphin cruising over Great Sands, Port Phillip Bay
The Burrunan dolphin was recognised as a new species in 2011. Most of them live in Port Phillip Bay. They are as much part of the place as the vast sandy plains, sea-grass meadows and rocky reefs and have become a litmus test for the health of ecosystem that sustains them.
