A wildfire is a threatening, yet beautiful sight. The Pioneer Fire burning in the Boise National Forest started July 18, 2016 eight miles North of Idaho City. It spread North, Northeast and Northwest creating a horseshoe of fire surrounding Lowman, Idaho (population 200). Local residents watched clouds of vaporous smoke billow energetically as trees and brush exploded into fires. Though threatening, one couldn’t help but watch in amazement. By September 3, the fire will have burned 180,000 acres (281 square miles).
