Beavers at the Missouri Headwaters
Two American Icons: The Beaver and The Missouri River Headwaters This is the confluence of the Jefferson and Madison Rivers where the river, famous for its major part in the Lewis and Clark Core of Discovery, begins. A family of nature's engineers, the beaver, are feeding, and collecting wood, at the Confluence. We nearly lost the beaver, during the age of the mountain man, to a fashion in beaver hats. Fortunately, because of the advent of silk, and a change in styles, I had this photo opp. that you see before you.
