My husband and I took a tour to the favelas in Rio de Janerio. Another name for favelas is shantytown/slums. These homes are somehow built on a mountain. We started at the top of the hill then walked down to the bottom. Apartments one on top of the other. Cement pathways no wider then a sidewalk. Then to come across this colorful salon in the midst of this dingy area was surprising.
