They say that behind every mask there is a story. Here the story is about the traditional craftsmanship of the people of "Majuli",the largest river island of the mighty "Brahmaputra" river in Assam.Following the neo-Vaishnovites cultural aspects of Majuli, these masks played a vital role while depicting the different mythological characters enacted in musical theatres during various festivals specially during the annual "Rash leela" festival."Chamaguri" Satra or monastery plays a major role in making of these masks and commercially distribute them to various musical groups, sometime outside Majuli. Here river transport is being used to take these crafts to far away places.
