17th Annual Smithsonian Magazine Photo Contest Natural World
Between Thin Glass

A wild friend made a home outside my PT Cruiser. She spun her web every night and hid out during the day. We kept missing each other. Her being nocturnal and I, not willing to stay up late on summer days left us guessing as to who the other owner of the vehicle was. I captured her and her beauty one night when we met and was happy to see my reflection within the photo. I believe she is female because of her strength and resilience to hold on even when the car is in motion. She will always be welcomed to live outside my car.
