Initially I planned on getting a sunset shot at this location. I was with my family enjoying their company as we were wandering around the town of Waterton. I saw the clouds above me light up from the sunset and was getting anxious to get here to get a shot. I mentioned a couple of times that we should head to Cameron falls but by the time everyone was ready to go the light had already faded and I had missed the opportunity. We decided to go see the falls anyways as it’s a bit of a family tradition to come here when we’re in Waterton. Upon arriving I left the camera gear in the car as the light had already faded. My ever so wise mother said I should take a photo. I initially declined thinking it wouldn’t be worthwhile. She urged me again and so I decided to give it a go. I setup on the rocks amid the stream when suddenly I saw a star poke out and thought “alright, this was worth it”. I obtained focus and composition and then took the shot. To my astonishment the Big Dipper was perfectly aligned above Cameron falls on the display of my camera! What a wonderful surprise!
