21st Annual Smithsonian Magazine Photo Contest Natural World
Big Spring Creek Falls on a hot summer day.

Big Spring Creek Falls is a three-tiered waterfall along Big Spring Creek, originating high on Mount Adams, Washington State, USA. While driving on NF-23 heading to Takhlakh Lake, I noticed a turnoff that looked interesting. I was overjoyed to find this naturally air-conditioned place in the wilderness of Mt. Adams. I spent about an hour there just taking it all in.
