Birch forest during gale
I was in Michigan's Upper Peninsula at the peak of fall color in October 2018, and was floored by the beauty of this forest, which was dominated by White Birch. Unfortunately, or so I thought, near gale winds were coming off nearby Lake Superior and shaking the foliage like crazy. I really wanted to make long exposure landscape shots, and thought the high winds would interfere with making good photos. But since I would not be back to this spot anytime soon, I went for it. As it turned out, the trembling leaves created a painterly watercolor effect.
