20th Annual Smithsonian Magazine Photo Contest Artistic
Bison Double Exposure

In 2022, I made my first ever trip to Yellowstone National Park. I wanted to create a photograph that was representative of my phenomenal trip, so I took photos of the things that most remind me of Yellowstone. One photo was of a Bison walking across the road. The other photo was of evergreen trees with mountains in the background. I created a double exposure of these two photos to show the magnificence of the wildlife found there and the power and beauty of the forests and mountains. I turned both photos into a sepia tone as a representation of the fact that 2022 is the 150th anniversary of this glorious park.
