Bison females and calves nap in the middle of a "buffalo wallow".
Bison families converge on a wallow where they will roll to keep flies off and help to shed old fur. They also don't mind a nap in the middle on occasion. I loved how the bison would instinctively gather around the young for protection and took the shot.
