This picture shows a fairly mature black-browed albatross chick sat on its nest. This nest bowl will have been used by its parents to breed potentially for 40-50 years and its how the adults recognise the chicks. If the egg or the chicks fall out of the nest then unless they miraculously climb back in they will be deserted by the parents.
