Black Lechwe Crossing Channel

A black lechwe leads the way crossing the water channel in the Bangweulu Wetlands in Zambia. The marshland has well over 50,000 black lechwe, which are endemic to this area. Large grazing areas surrounded by ample waterways make this an ideal habitat for these antelope. This group was grazing on one side of the channel and then decided to cross over. The depth of the water forced them to wade and swim across, then jump through the shallower parts.
