Black Sea Nettles drift by a window at the Monterey Bay Aquarium
Black Sea Nettles (Chrysaora achlyos) cluster at the Monterey Bay Aquarium in Monterey, CA. Considered a giant jellyfish, the diameter of the bell of a Black Sea Nettle can be nearly 3 ft. with trailing, stinging tentacles up to 25 ft. It lives a mysterious life, and there is still alot to learn about its life cycle and habits.
