Lakes and oases aren’t two words commonly associated with each other. This is not the case in the Siwa Oasis in Egypt Taghaghin Island is located in one of the oasis’ lakes just West of the desert village. The island offers a serenity and spectacular views that are second to none. Mohamed is one of the few people on the planet who can say he is a sailor in a desert oasis. It was he that insisted that sunsets on the islands are not to be missed – granting me the opportunity to take this photo. Mohamed can be seen squatting to the left of his boat with said sunset in the background.
