BLUE EYED SHAG NESTING

The naturalists are still in the process of resolving a debate in terms of taxonomical segregations for what was referred to as the Blue Eyed Shag / Blue Eyed Cormorant / Imperial Shag. But what is beyond doubt is that these are the only species of cormorants to to enter the Antarctic proper. This is the only Antarctic bird that will maintain a nest year-round if the area is always free of ice. Blue-eyed Shags are constantly on the prowl to try to steal nesting material from their neighbours and add it to their own nest.
