Bluebonnets and Indian Paintbrush

Springtime in Texas adorns drab roadways and bayous with stunning blankets of blue, red, orange, yellow, pink, and purple. Among the most well-known Texas wildflowers are the bluebonnet and the Indian Paintbrush. The blue flowers in the foreground of this photo are, of course, the bluebonnets, while the red in the background are the Indian Paintbrush. Looking more closely you can see how the bluebonnet gets its name - the petals resemble a a woman's bonnet from the homesteading days.
