Boarding at Lake Rotomahana
During our stay in Rotorua, New Zealand, we took an afternoon excursion to see the many manifestations of geothermal activity due to volcanoes. We saw Frying Pan Lake and Inferno Crater in the Waimangu Valley where the ground bubbles up in muddy pools and steam comes out of land vents. Then we got on the boat in the picture and took a cruise around Lake Rotomahana where the captain pointed out pink silica terraces, yellow sulfur earth and brilliant turquoise blue waters all the result of historic volcano activity.
