Bobcat On Nighttime Prowl Above Los Angeles and Santa Monica Bay

This curious California bobcat (Lynx Rufus) was exploring the hills above Los Angeles and Santa Monica Bay when it 'entered the light' - the quick flash of my camera. Living on the urban fringe of the large Los Angeles metropolis, this juvenile bobcat thrives along the backyards of million dollar mansions and busy hiking trails. Capturing this bobcat image above the Pacific Ocean was a welcome surprise as I patiently waited for another peaceful mountain lion encounter.. Bobcats in the Santa Monica Mountains are surrounded by the bustling 405 and 101 Freeways in Los Angeles. Fortunately, the world’s largest wildlife crossing, The Wallis Annenberg Wildlife Crossing, is now being built and may ensure this bobcat’s and other animal’s survival.
