Bodie Island Lighthouse

Folklore said the Bodie Island Lighthouse (pronounced "body") was named for the many bodies that would wash ashore from shipwrecks. Others say it was named after a man named Bodie. Its still unknown for sure the true story, but its beauty is remarkable. Opened in 1872 and standing 170', its beacon can be seen for 19 miles. This photo taken as Tropical Storm warnings hit the area today. What a beauty it was to see.
