18th Annual Smithsonian Magazine Photo Contest Natural World
Bonded
The bond between man and beast - a captive golden eagle and his master. A tradition that goes back thousands of years. The Eagles is bonded at a young age with a hunter or huntress. The eagle does in captivity what it naturally does in the wild, hunts. Although Captive, the eagle Hunter keeps the eagle semi wild knowing that it will be released back into the wilderness to live out the rest of its life fully capable of surviving. In the end we are all free to fly.
