I took this picture a couple of months after the first COVID vaccine roll out. I remember walking along the beachfront near my house and seeing this boys bounding with glee on the Lake Michigan boulders. I remember thinking, science is amazing, look at people emerging from isolation. Even though at that time there were no vaccines for kids yet, it was just their springiness that felt symbolic of hope and emergence from the isolation that the pandemic brought.
