17th Annual Smithsonian Magazine Photo Contest Altered Images
Bridge Over Troubled Water
The chlorophyll process is an organic alternative photography process akin to the anthotype process. However, instead of printing on the crushed extract of fruit or plant matter, the prints are bleached by sunlight directly onto the surface of leaves using a positive. The original image was captured during a winter trip to West Virginia. On a hike in the mountains my partner and I came upon a dilapidated bridge. I felt the juxtaposition of a man made steel object on a leaf would create a message to the viewer.
