Brimstone, Gonepteryx rhamni. Large greenish butterfly that belongs with Pieridae. Wingspan: 45–60mm. Butterfly varies in from line to aquamarine with lemon yellow to tangerine markings. Males tend to be line green while females tend to be more blue green. Found in Palearctic zone across Europe, Asia and North Africa. Butterfly hibernates. Early butterfly that emerges with warmer temperatures. Flight February-August. Second generation fly July-August to hibernation. Host plant: Buckthorn. Butterfly migration is for hibernation in autumn and in spring for food.
