Brown Bear in Lupines
I was on a photo tour in Silver Salmon Creek, Alaska. The local guide took us out after dinner to a field of lupines, where a bear was known to appear to eat lupine roots. We waited and waited on the road. Finally, the bear did appear. We were told to quietly come up the hill and line up at a safe distance from the bear. The light was low and the bear's head was down in the lupines. Finally, it lifted it's head once for a few seconds, and all of the shutters clicked. This was the only shot of the face that anyone got.
