Bruce, a Mondomil Local

Bruce, What happened to your eye? “In the year 2000 during a tribal fight, which originated from a drunken brawl at a place called Plumes and Arrows in Mt Hagen, a pellet from a shot gun entered my eye, the pellet is still there”. Does it hurt? “Yes it does, so when the pain comes on I smoke marijuana to deal with it”. “I was born in 1953. When I completed school (year 6) here in the village I moved to Minj high school in the township to do form 1 (year 7)”. “During this time there was an incident where someone from the area I was in, came up to the village and was killed during a fight”. “Out of fear of his tribe retaliating my father sent a group of his warriors down to ensure my safety while in school”. “They eventually felt it was best to bring me back to the village. I hadn’t gone back to school since”.
