Burial Spot of a cat in the forest

The smaller tree in the center of the shot marks the place where a house cat was buried for a friend who lived in an apartment and could not afford to cremate her pet cat. We picked this spot in my backyard because the smaller tree amidst the pines would be a marker for years to come. I thought the photo was so striking. It shows what winter in the south looks like - pine needles blanketing the forest floor, the last of colored leaves clinging to the trees, and the solitude you can find just feet away from a suburban house.
