14th Annual Smithsonian Magazine Photo Contest Natural World
Burro Mesa

At Big Bend National Park, the landscape looks like something from another world. It's amazing to know that at one point, it was all under water and it is now a vast desert with amazing rock structures. The mountain is known as Burro Mesa, because it looks like a mule's ears.
