Burrowing Owl & Blue Jay

For the past several years I have traveled to Cape Coral to photograph the always entertaining Burrowing Owls and Owlets. This Blue Jay watched the Burrowing Owl male feeding his Owlets and decided it wanted in on the action. He would fly up to the log in hopes of receiving a free handout. The Owl did not try to scare him off and put up with him flying almost on top of him and perching beside him begging for a handout. This is the only image that has both in focus as I was not on the same DOF and couldn’t maneuver myself that way as I would have been to close to the Owl’s burrow and did not want to cause any distress to this sweet family. I should mention this Burrowing Owls colouring. He would take his dirt baths in terra cotta soil on the baseball diamond. I thought he had unique colouring until it rained and it washed off of him :)
