Calling

When I was younger, I wanted to pursue photography as a profession. I confronted my parents, and they said no straight away. Coming from an Indian family, I did not have the courage to stand up for myself. Photography is what I love to do and I couldn't give that up. So now that I'm in my 20's, I'm learning to do the things I want and this picture called out to me. It is very special to me. I was at the right place at the right time. It was a day before Thanksgiving. I was waiting for my train. I rushed towards me. It was almost like time slowed. I was so in awe of the colors that surrounded me. The yellows and blues in this image made me feel like I had been transported to one of Van Gogh's paintings. It felt surreal and that's how I know that if I have a calling, it is photography.
