In the photo in question I wanted to demonstrate the environment of the Short-eared Owl and how it blends into the tree branches, especially in black and white. So when she showed up late in the afternoon and landed far away from where I was, I captured this image with emphasis on a more open composition, composing the owl with the tree branches.
