17th Annual Smithsonian Magazine Photo Contest The American Experience
Cannonball!!!!!!
This picture was taken from United States Avenue looking at the Trostle Farm, located within the Gettysburg National Military Park. Owned by Peter Trostle at the time, it was occupied by his son and his family during the time of battle. They were forced out and the 134 acre farm served as Major General Daniel Sickles headquarters. That is the famous shell hole in the brick on the barn.
