Cappadocian Volcano

Three different volcanoes, Erciyes, Hasan, and Melendiz Dağları, were active in the Cappadocian valley region millenia before humans inhabited the region. Long before people created the popular "fair chimneys" that the park is known for, these now inactive volcanoes created the natural deposits of tufa and basalt.
