12th Annual Smithsonian Magazine Photo Contest Culture and the Arts
CARL AUGUST STATUE IN WEIMAR

The impressive bronze statue of the Grand Duke of Saxe-Weimar-Eisenach Carl August (1757-1828) in a central place of the beautiful German city of Weimar. The statue which is a work of the sculpture Adolf von Donndorf was unveiled in 1875 for the celebration of the 100th anniversary of Carl August´s reign.
