I have been doing a long term project in Kimberley, South Africa. The city was once the sight of the discovery of diamonds in South Africa. Years later the large scale mining industry has started to wane. The tailings from the previous mining are being re-minded by large mining companies. Alongside this a large number of artisanal miners mine the tails. These miners have been labelled as illegal and here one of these miners sits on his carpet of dreams, hoping for a better life.
