14th Annual Smithsonian Magazine Photo Contest Natural World
Carrizo Plain Sun Rays
I spent the better part of this afternoon and evening doing my best to explore the Carrizo Plain. Approximately 5 or so other people on the planet had the same idea. The place was absolutely desolate and dry. Aside from the handful of folks I saw passing through, there was a whole lot of nothing going on, and the drought was in full swing.
