Catching Mussels

A fisherman catches mussels the traditional way at the end of Tra Khuc River in Quang Ngai Province, central Vietnam. Scrapping and mussels are the daily livelihoods of the people here. They have to get up early to work from 3 a.m., immersed in water all day in the sun for six to eight hours. They earn about 200,000 Vietnamese dong (nearly $9) for a day of work—the average wage for people here.
