Johnny Thornton owns a historic catfish farm in rural Georgia. The farm was constructed by a civil rights activist in the 1970s who wanted to bring prosperity to the predominantly African American community. After languishing for decades, Thornton bought and renovated the farm with the same dream: to economically uplift the local community. Hancock County, where it is located, is currently one of the poorest counties in the nation.
