Caught in the Spider's Web

I was in a local public garden and noticed a movement among some bushes. This ant was struggling in a spider's web. It's desperate attempts to free itself, it had torn off one of its wings but was still stuck. It continued to struggle for about fifteen more seconds and then stopped. Almost instantly, the spider rushed forward to claim its prey. These predator-prey relationships are a necessary balance in nature, but one that nonetheless can stirred empathy in me.
