16th Annual Smithsonian Magazine Photo Contest Natural World
Cedar Run, Shenandoah National Park
The spring and summer of 2018 was a very wet one in the area of Shenandoah National Park, so the rivers in the Park were often running high and fast. On this particular Saturday, I was hiking along both Cedar Run and Whiteoak Canyon Run do some fly fishing, but the waters were too high and fast to fish. Luckily, the rivers being high and fast make for some excellent photo opportunities.
