Dangerous closeness

The silver spider (Argiope Argentata) lives in warm areas from southern California to Argentina. This says a lot about its evolutionary success. The females are three times the size of the males, and after mating, they eat them. In the photograph, the male (back) has come very close to the female, who remained absolutely still.
