Chester by the Water in the Evening
Chester is a muscovy duck where I live in Collier County, Florida. My husband cannot work anymore, so the ducks are his favorite companions. He knows them by name, as different squads of them come and go. Some people call them invasive, as they do many things. But are we not also invasive? Coexisting with kindness in our environment requires compromise between all creatures, including humans...which is not always so easy. We take friendship where we can get it. Chester was a good friend.
