Chestnut-headed Bee-eater hunting

"There are 5 species of Bee-eaters endemic to Malaysia with the smallest the Chestnut-headed bee-eater (Merops leschenaulti) being the most common. The sparrow-sized bee-eater lacks the long tail-feathers of other species. It is a resident all year in tropical rainforests in Penang State. They are excellent hunters and adept fliers when chasing insects. Explanation. The species is small and difficult to photograph with their rapid flight. To freeze the wings I prioritized a high speed with this backlit subject resulting in deliberate under-exposure. The post-processing aimed to bring the colors true to life and some noise reduction was used. I have had a lot of experience with this species and know the native coloration. "
